Hi friends!
Welcome to the Pi Lambda chapter of Delta Zeta at the University of Tennessee
at Chattanooga. The Delta Zeta sorority was founded on October 24th, 1902 at
Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Six young women came together to form a
sisterhood whose purpose was to create true and lasting friendships, encourage
one another in the pursuit of knowledge, promote values-based living and
embrace social responsibilities. While our six founders took a leap of faith to start
the first sorority on a male-dominated campus, we continue to strive and live by
the values they created. Here at the Pi Lambda chapter, we continue to live by
and take great pride in our six core values: Friendship, Belonging, Community, Generosity, Curiosity, and Empowerment.
It is our duty as Delta Zeta women to fulfill these values every day.  We do this
through supporting and raising money for our three national philanthropies and
our local partnership. Delta Zeta’s philanthropies include the SeriousFun
Children’s Network, the American Society for Deaf Children, the Starkey Hearing
Foundation, and Pi Lambda is locally partnered with Marty’s Center. In 2015,
Delta Zeta pledged to donate 5 million dollars in 5 years to the Starkey Hearing
Foundation. Every chapter across the country worked together and by 2020 we
surpassed the goal by donating 5.5 million dollars in 5 years. We continue to
serve and give in our community and this is one of our greatest values as a
sisterhood. On top of that we strive to support each other with a “love that is ever
steadfast.” In doing this, we strive to push each other to live by our six values, to
become strong, empowering and confident women just like our founders. I truly
believe Delta Zeta is an incredibly unique sisterhood to be a part of.
When you hear the word “sorority,” what are some of the first things that pop into
your head? Friendships or sisterhood? Leadership? Service? While all of those
things come with a sorority, it is so much more. My sorority and my sisters have
provided me with so many opportunities and memories that I will never forget,
like becoming president of our chapter. Some of those memories also include,
the many many sisterhood events filled with lots of laughs, the long nights of
studying filled with many tears, seeing the money and services we’ve provided to
our philanthropies come to life, and the moments shared as a chapter that
provided so much pride in who we are becoming as women.
With that being said, I would highly encourage any woman to consider going
Greek and joining an amazing sisterhood. If you have any doubts, questions, or
just want to know more, please feel free to contact me. I wish you the best in life
and in your future adventures!

Truly,
Becca Godsey
