Hi everyone!
As president of the Pi Lambda Chapter of Delta Zeta here at UTC, I am honored and
privileged to introduce you to Delta Zeta Sorority!
Delta Zeta was officially established on October 24th, 1902, by six young women who
attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. These six young women came together to
form a sisterhood whose purpose was to create authentic and lasting friendships,
encourage one another in the pursuit of knowledge, promote values-based living and
embrace social responsibilities. While our six founders took a leap of faith to start the
first sorority on a male-dominated campus, we continue striving to live by the values they
created. Here at the Pi Lambda chapter, we continue to live by and take great pride in our
six core values: Friendship, Belonging, Community, Generosity, Curiosity, and
Empowerment.
Our duty as Delta Zeta women is to fulfill these values daily. Delta Zeta has the honor to
serve our national philanthropies, which include: The SeriousFun Children’s Network,
The American Society for Deaf Children, The Starkey Hearing Foundation, and our local
partner, The Marty’s Center.
My time as a member of Delta Zeta has brought so much more to my college experience
than I could have ever imagined. Throughout my time as a member, I have gained
fantastic leadership skills, a sisterhood that constantly supports me, and the confidence
needed to help me reach my goals and career aspirations. In addition, I have created some
amazing everlasting friendships and memories with my fellow sisters in Delta Zeta!
With that being said, I would highly encourage any woman to consider going Greek and
joining an amazing sisterhood. Membership of Delta Zeta begins in college but is truly an
experience that will last a lifetime! On behalf of every member of Pi Lambda here at
UTC, we welcome you to our campus and look forward to meeting you soon!
If you have any questions or just want to know more about our sisterhood, please feel
free to contact me.
Truly,
Julia Cornelsen
