Hi everyone!

My name is Leslie Wallin, and I have the privilege of serving as the President of the Theta Phi Chapter of Sigma Kappa here at UTC. On behalf of my sisters, we are thrilled to welcome you to campus, and we look forward to meeting you very soon! UTC has an amazing Greek community, and we can’t wait to show you what a wonderful experience sorority life can bring to your college years.

Sigma Kappa was founded in 1874 by five young women attending Colby College in Waterville, Maine. They were the first and only women admitted to their college at that
time. Our founders formed a unique support system that we now know and love, Sigma Kappa. They were dedicated to bringing lifelong opportunities for social, intellectual, and spiritual development. Our chapter has thrived for over 25 years at UTC, providing a supportive, positive environment for collegiate women. We are extremely proud to be one of only five chapters nationally recognized as a 3 star chapter, representing the highest standard of Sigma Kappa chapters throughout the nation. Additionally, we have been awarded the Founders Award twice as the Sigma Kappa chapter with all-around excellence within the award year.

My sisters live our values of friendship, loyalty, personal growth and service each day. I’m extremely proud of the women that make up Theta Phi. Our members work extremely hard each year committing countless of hours of community service and demonstrating outstanding leadership and dedication to our various organizations on campus. The members of our chapter are the foundation to our success and all we achieve. They are so full of creativity and talents that continue to inspire and push me to be a better individual. The love we share as sisters in Sigma Kappa offers support and a positive atmosphere that will not fail you. My sisters have watched me individually grow, accomplish my goals, discover things about myself that I never thought were possible and always encouraged me every step of the way. The tears, laughter and joy we’ve experienced over the years make up our strong sisterhood that has forever bonded us together. I would not be the person I am today without these women in my life.

Sigma Kappa creates opportunities for women to become part of a worldwide sisterhood of successful, caring women. Because personal growth and friendship are important to women throughout their lives, the Sigma Kappa experience doesn't end with graduation. Our bond continues to bring us together over the years, to share experiences, serve others, and have fun! With Sigma Kappa, college is just the beginning of a sisterhood that will bring you happiness for a lifetime.

I am privileged to be a member of such a rewarding organization. I hope that you too get the same opportunity to find a home in our Panhellenic community. It's difficult to explain from the inside looking out and difficult to see from the outside looking in. Sigma Kappa gives women the opportunity to grow and be better leaders, friends, sisters, and students. During this time of uncertainty, I know that I have an amazing support system to turn to.

This year is going to be amazing! We have so much to look forward to this upcoming semester. Our sisters look forward to meeting each of you, and we wish you the best of luck in your experience at UTC! Go Mocs!

Sigma's Love and Mine,
